Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory has two sites in upstate New York. The Knolls site is in Niskayuna, N.Y., a suburb of Schenectady. The Kesselring site is in West Milton, a small town about 19 miles northwest of Schenectady. Centrally located between New York City, Boston and Montreal, Schenectady and Saratoga are surrounded by beautiful countryside in New York's Tech Valley.
Year-round recreational activities abound, including swimming, boating, fishing, skiing, skating and mountain climbing. The avid sports enthusiast can also enjoy a wide variety of spectator sports such as baseball, basketball, football, soccer and hockey at the professional and college level.
Tech Valley's museums, theaters and galleries offer a wealth of cultural opportunities. Throughout the year, the Times Union Center and the Glens Falls Civic Center offer events which include concerts, sporting events and other special activities.
During the summer months, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center hosts the New York City Ballet, and music groups ranging from the most popular rock and jazz concerts to the Philadelphia Orchestra. Each August the thoroughbreds return to race at the historic Saratoga track.
